We arrived Wednesday afternoon back home.

We are QRT after almost 16,000 QSOs. We began to dismantle the antennas this morning and will fly back home this afternoon. The flights will take us from Mombasa via Nairobi to Amsterdam and then back to Berlin where we are expected to arrive tomorrow at noon.

Thanks to everyone calling us. We were very much restricted due to the power line problems and had to accept unexpected high costs for renting the generator. Anyhow, we wanted to be on the air and have fun and it was worth it.

Building the antennas is almost finshed. Nobody is taking notice of us on 80m and 20m due to the contest this weekend. We have heard W's on 80m. There is apparently nothing going on without the DX Cluster, noone is tuning the bands anymore. Noone comes back to our CQ until we are spotted. And then we have endless pileups.

No problems so far with the generator. Doesn't seem to be too loud. We need some 20 liters fuel each day. The transport is organized. The mast holding the electrical power lines tilted today. There were bangs and fireworks. Power outages all over the country! We luckily have a generator...

The power problems couldn't really be fixed. We got power again after heavy short-circuits but it's unusable - 230V without load and 130V under load at 400W power. Our power supplies cannot compensate that. No hope for improvement. So we have rented a 3kW power aggregate which is really very noisy and loud. Let's see when get the first visits by angry neighbours.

We could run with two stations and we will finish completing the antennas today. The power line trouble has thrown us back and the generator costs a fortune.

The first online log is available.

We arrived well in Nairobi and had an hour delay on arrival. Luck for us, we wouldn't had caught the connecting domestic flight otherwise. The bad surprise on arrival at our radio location was not to have electrical power, the power lines were tangled up:
